Winter care tips for your motorcycle #4: Cleaning without water

Regardless of if you ride all/some/none of Winter giving your bike a thorough wash before popping it away it will not only ensure that it looks good when you next take it out but it'll help keep the finish from corroding. Make sure that you dry your bike thoroughly; once that's done, Give this stuff a go: ACF-50.  This will help protect the bike from corrosion. If you don't have a good motorcycle cover for your bike, it's a good idea to invest in one.

But, messing around with hose pipes and buckets of water in this weather isn't ideal- that's why I've started using the Petronas Durance Bike Cleaner.

No water required! cleans, polishes- One cloth to clean, one cloth to dry. I actually got the idea from my Dad would you believe- he cleans his 4wd all the time with this stuff, never a hose in sight and it looks spotless.

Clean and polish your motorcycle with no water required: Great for those who haven't got easy access to hose pipes or have to lug buckets of water up and down the stairs of the flat block. This formula cleans and polishes your motorcycle and every part of it! It can be used on rubber, painted surfaces, plastic and chrome. Simply spray on, work a small area at a time with a clean cloth. Use another clean cloth to remove. Easy peasy!

Winter care tips from GetGeared #2: Greasing!

There are motorcyclists that ride every day regardless of the weather, and there are bikers, like me, who ride the bike more frequently during Spring, Summer and Autumn. I do ride in Winter, but I tend to pick and choose my days. 

The bike therefore is standing for periods of time, sometimes a couple of weeks or more if the weather is really bad. If you do ride this time of year it's essential to clean off all the salt and muck before parking it up- to avoid corrosion! One product I do recommend to blitz corrosion is ACF-50, in spray or grease format.

I like the grease- and tend to grease the following without fail: Battery terminals, locks, calipers, hinges, bearings and more- the more the merrier. Naturally stay away from brakes of course! This grease is superb- take a look:
